The girl has been named as Evha Jannath, from Leicester, and is understood to have been on a school trip at the park.
She is thought to have suffered “serious injuries” after falling out of a boat while on the water ride. She was flown to Birmingham Children’s Hospital but died shortly after.
Drayton Manor’s director George Bryan said staff were “immediately on the scene” after the girl fell in, Sky News reported.
He added: "We’re all truly shocked and devastated and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this tremendously difficult time."
Staffordshire Police said that a Health and Safety Executive investigation had begun.
