It comes after Barrhead revealed to TTG it would be opening its first store in Northern Ireland before Christmas – in Belfast. In total the travel company is targeting “five to seven” new UK openings each year for the next three years.
The new team members – who will join Lorraine Cree and Gail Wands – have both been promoted from within the business. Angela Gemmell has been with the business since 2010, working her way up from travel consultant to store manager. Leanne Jack, meanwhile, has been manager at the Edinburgh Gyle store since 2010, with a total of 18 years’ experience in the industry.
The newly strengthened team will oversee the growth of Barrhead’s specialist teams in particular.
Linda Armit, Barrhead Travel head of sales, said: “It became apparent earlier in the year that the additional regional sales management support is necessary as we continue to grow.
“We are passionate about developing our own people so the position was advertised internally.
“Doubling our team means that the regional sales managers can provide even more value to the sales teams on a daily basis, not only increasing support in sales and performance, but also compliance, staff development and training.”
These appointments follow Barrhead’s philosophy of promoting and developing their staff. Many of the company’s senior and mid-level managers have benefited from a planned training and support programme.
