Andrew Apperley, 38, from Eastbourne, was reported missing after not returning to his hotel four days after attending a beach party on the island of Ko Pha Ngan.
Formal identification is yet to take place but Apperley’s family, who are from Gloucester, have been informed of the discovery by police, BBC News reports.
Apperley was staying at a hotel in Bophut, on the island of Ko Samui, and went to a full moon party on February 12.
He has not been heard from since.
According to BBC News, he told his mother he would be returning the following morning, but Apperley was reported missing by hotel staff missing four days later.
Apperley had flown to Ko Samui from Bangkok to attend the party on the neighbouring island of Ko Pha Ngan – famed for its monthly Full Moon parties - his brother Richard told BBC News.
Richard Apperley said his Andrew had checked in on the morning of the party and left his passport and driving licence with hotel reception staff.
Employees at the Hotel Ibis Samui Bophut confirmed that Apperley had still not been seen and his documents were still in their possession.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said: "Following inquiries with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) we can confirm that a body has been found in the search for Andrew Apperley. Our thoughts are with Andrew’s friends and family.
“The circumstances of the death are unknown at this time."
