Airport staff held two days of check-in training and trials last week with Loganair ahead of the proposed launch on 4 July.

Security and passenger service agents worked through Loganair’s IT systems, customer service procedures and security operations.

Loganair will operate routes to and from Southend airport, Belfast City airport and Dublin airport.

Flights to Belfast lead in from £39.99 and to Southend and Dublin from £44.99.

Kate Willard, partnership development director for airport owner Stobart Group, said: “We were delighted to have the Loganair team come to the airport to conduct this essential training.

“It goes to show how closely we are working with Loganair ahead of commercial flights launching on 4 July. Like our sister airport, Southend, we want to champion customer service.”

A Loganair spokesperson added: “With less than a month until our first services touch down on the tarmac of Carlisle Lake District airport, we’re undertaking an intense programme of preparations ahead of the launch.
