The popular honeymoon destination was placed on the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s list last year when Grand Cayman reported a local transmission of the virus.
There have been no locally transmitted cases of Zika in 2017 and “just one imported case” in early February 2016.
The Cayman Islands Public Health Department has been lobbying to be removed from the list for the last few months, following the confirmation of its removal on July 28, 2017.
Don McDougall, regional manager for the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism Europe, said: “This is great news as it means that we can welcome back multi-generational families and couples who may have had previous concerns about travelling to the destination.
“This news is particularly welcome being a popular luxury honeymoon destination.”
