Corbyn wants to make air pollution a key issue for Labour, according to The Independent.
“Jeremy is clear that he expects Labour to now oppose a third runway at Heathrow,” a party source told the newspaper. “It is now up to the government to decide what to do.”
Likely Labour opposition to a new third runway will come as a blow to Heathrow.
The Labour and Conservative candidates for the London mayoral election are both against expansion.
The Airports Commission came out in favour of Heathrow in its final report in July with the government expected to announce its response later this year.
