It comes despite fears that Brexit negotiations could overtake discussions on key projects, including a decision on where to build a new runway. An announcement on airport expansion has already been delayed once, and was expected to instead be announced this summer.
Transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin insisted in a speech on Tuesday that the government “remained committed to expansion”.
He added: “We remain committed to delivering runway capacity on the timetable set out by Sir Howard Davies...
“As we make decisions about our future in the coming weeks and months, it is vital that the UK is seen to be open for business and building the infrastructure it needs to compete.
A spokesperson for the DfT also said to TTG: “The government remains fully committed to delivering the important infrastructure projects it has set out.”
