The line said Xcelerate will see bandwidth increased by around four times, enabling faster web browsing and “more dependable video-streaming capabilities”.
It will be available on Celebrity Reflection, and will soon roll out to the remainder of the line’s large ships, although Celebrity Xpedition – the line’s Galapagos ship – is not scheduled to receive it.
Xcelerate will be available through a number of packages, all of which can be pre-booked before departure or purchased onboard for the same rate.
The unlimited package starts at $140pp for five to nine days and costs $199pp for 10 or more days.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, Celebrity Cruises chief executive and president, said: “Xcelerate is going to give our digitally connected guests a new opportunity to share their amazing travel experiences with the world in real time, anywhere in the world.
“We know that this is what our guests expect – it’s what we expect when we travel, too – and we are thrilled to be answering that expectation with Xcelerate, which offers some of the fastest access at sea.”
