The Bedfordshire terminal said it was in the process of making its “biggest ever” investment to infrastructure as part of meeting its target of growing annual capacity by 50% to 18 million by 2020.
Redevelopment work at the airport includes the doubling of its current retail space to accommodate 43 new shops and restaurants.
Nick Barton, chief executive, said: “It’s fantastic to see another month of outstanding growth at [London Luton]. Our investment is enabling us to offer not only a more relaxing and enjoyable airport experience, but also an ever-widening variety of destinations.”
