From Tuesday (January 24), easyJet is due to operate entirely from the North Terminal, while BA will move to the South Terminal on Wednesday and Virgin to the North on the same day.
The changes will mean speedier departures for BA customers travelling to the airport by train, as they will no longer need to take the shuttle to the North Terminal. Both BA and Virgin will open new lounge facilities in their respective new homes.
The changeover will be staggered over a 72-hour period and has already been subject to a programme of 37 different trials. BA’s New York flight is already operating from the South Terminal, as is BA2612 to Naples.
A Gatwick spokesperson said the fog experienced on Monday and predicted for Tuesday would have no effect on the planned moves.
