The low-cost carrier carried 2.1 million passengers across its network in January, which was also boosted by the growth of domestic routes in Spain. This was an increase of 354,000 on the same month in 2016.
Norwegian’s chief executive Bjorn Kjos said: “We are very pleased to see that the traffic growth continues in January, a month traditionally characterised by less travel.”
The airline also increased its load factor to 83%, which was an improvement of 1.3 percentage points on the same month last year.
Norwegian carried 4.5 million UK passengers last year from Gatwick, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester. It is currently the third largest airline at Gatwick with four million annual passengers.
