The news was revealed to members of the UK travel trade at the announcement party for island’s Soleil Saint Lucia Summer Festival at The Club at the Ivy, London.
Working closely with the commercial and trade partners, the Tourism Authority will be more private sector-led, with an increased marketing budget and its own source of funding.
Minister of tourism, Hon. Dominic Fedee, who was in attendance, explained that the development would be for the good of the country.
He said: “This move will mean better streamlining of our marketing and a more professionally run organisation so we can create better exposure and demand for the destination and tell the UK market just how exciting Lucia is.”
