Stansted airport is getting back to normal after faulty X-ray scanners meant passengers missed flights due to huge delays at security.
Pictures of massive crowds circulated on social media amid claims that queues were at a standstill for over an hour.
One passenger complained to The Sun that no staff were available to help and that some airlines made the decision to depart without passengers.
The airport said that “a technical issue” with X-ray machines meant capacity to process passengers had been reduced and apologised. It added that the issue had now been resolved.
