The 8,700 mile-flight will take around 17 hours 55 minutes westbound and will be the world’s longest flight on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Qantas’s Sydney-Dallas route currently holds the crown of longest flight from the US.
The Los Angeles-Singapore route will operate from October 27. The journey on the 787-9 will be 254 miles longer than the airline’s San Francisco-Singapore flight that started last year.
United’s flight 37 will depart Los Angeles at 20.55, arriving in Singapore at 06.50 two days later. The return flight, UA38, leaves Singapore at 11.00 daily, arriving at 10.15 the same day, taking around 15 hours 15 minutes.
Next year Singapore Airlines will reintroduce its non-stop New York JFK service, a flight of around 19 hours.
