The service, which will take bookings from October 26, is being rolled out to travellers flying from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports.
The scheme works by customers choosing a slot through luggage transfer app AirPortr, whose staff will then arrive at the address, weigh the baggage, place a tracking bar code on it and seal it in an “anti-tamper” bag.
They will then transport the baggage to the airport.
At the terminal the luggage is then removed from the anti tamper bag, passed through security scanners and placed in the airport’s normal baggage handling system.
Passengers then collect their things from the luggage carousel when they arrive at the destination, The London Evening Standard reports.
Customers must book a slot for the service at least seven hours ahead of their scheduled departure time and baggage must not exceed BA’s 23kg weight allowance.
A single bag from a customer’s home or hotel near to the airports costs £20, £30 in “central London” locations — which covers all of zone 1 and parts of zone 2 — and £40 from “Greater London” areas, which cover the rest of the capital and suburbs out to the M25.
