A Qatar Airway flight was forced to turn back after a bird strike yesterday (Thursday).
Flight QR240 from Istanbul to Doha made an emergency landing at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport.
It is thought the bird strike caused an engine fire.
All 298 passengers and 14 crew were able to disembark safely and a replacement aircraft was sent to the airport.
Qatar airways said in a statement: “The safety and comfort of our passengers is our most important responsibility.
“The pilot followed all safety procedures.”
