We all know the drill: the snow falls, the hats and gloves go on, and the Great British public go sledging. And it seems that like myself, most of us love the first snowfall. But as the weather continued to get colder thoughts lead to holidays, and where to book next.
The trend for a gloomy weather outlook usually just meaning good news for the heating companies has really changed, with the outbound tourism sector really benefiting. We have been witnessing a “fed up” effect when the weather has been really bad, with increased enquires from holidaymakers looking to cheer themselves up and escape to the sunshine.
The holiday booking decision is being fast-tracked, making customers get extra organised and think ahead more. In particular, our 2018 winter sun bookings are up significantly and we predict this will continue to rise even further during the cold weather with more people putting firm plans in place for their next escape to the sun.
A popular winter sun destination for us, offering plenty of sun, sand and sea is the Caribbean. It’s really no surprise people would prefer to be there with average temperatures around 29oC December to February compared to a chilly 5oC at home recently.
It’s good news with more snow predicted and the peak holiday booking period just around the corner.
So although I’m freezing with the not-so-good British weather, on a professional level my Christmas list to Santa this year includes snow, and lots of it.
