More than 370 holidays have been offered by members of the Grenfell Tower Holiday Appeal Facebook group following the tragedy.
Small businesses, B&Bs and guesthouses around the UK have offered short-stay breaks for the firefighters and their families, while some holidays have also been offered abroad in Spain and Cyprus.
The group was set up by Angie Mays from Ilfracombe, Devon and her friend Kay Gilbert, who said they had received messages of support from as far afield as Australia.
A firefighter, his partner and their two children will head to a cottage in Marsden, West Yorkshire for a week in July, and other firefighter families have been in touch and are considering taking up the offers, Mays said.
She told Metro.co.uk: “Various offers like quad bike sessions have been given to a firefighter family already. We have also booked one firefighter family to stay in Yorkshire and two families in Alicante.
“We have a JustGiving page and bank account and are raising funds to support the victims get to their holiday destination. We have over £1200 at present.
“People are being so generous posting their holidays the are offering on our Facebook page Grenfell Tower Holiday Appeal.’
Mays added that she hoped in the long-term survivors of the Grenfell blaze might also feel ready to take up the offers of holidays, but she acknowledged that it was probably “too soon to be talking about things like that now – it’s too raw”.
